Support The Team

Marshall County MTB, Inc. (MCMTBi) is a 501c3 public charity providing excellent administrative and strong fiscal support to the Marshall County Mountain Biking program while promoting more kids on bikes through interscholastic mountain biking competitions.

A student will ride their bicycle an estimated average of 300 miles during a season

It is probably a stretch to say that the Marshall County Mountain Biking Team has a long standing tradition of great mountain biking success. But, the first three seasons yielded three (3) State Championship Teams. I think it will be ok to say, we have started a tradition of excelling in mountain bike competitions. You can see the team’s accomplishments to date by clicking here. The Marshall County High School and middle schoolers are leading the way as a model example for our region and the league by demonstrating the positive impact on kids, their families and their community.

“Get a bicycle. You will not regret it, if you live.” – Mark Twain

Students learn life skills that promote individual development through a bio-pschyo-social model of physical fitness, mental well being and personal responsibility, as an integral part of preparing and racing on a mountain bike.

The Marshall County Mountain Bike team competes in the Tennessee League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). The season consists of four races starting in September  ending in October in the Tennessee regions of Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Unlike many traditional stick and ball sports, mountain biking is participant heavy but spectator light. All students that prepare and train get to compete in the entire race events. At Marshall County High School, mountain biking is currently categorized as a club sport. Participants provide their own equipment and cover their own travel costs. Most practices are held off-campus. As participation and interest continues to grow in this life long sport, we are asking for you to partner with us to offset some of the costs.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED
Based on last year’s participation costs here are some examples of how money is used.
$45 pays for a race registration fee for a single high school racer at one race. The total team race registration fee is just over $1,000 per race.
$250 will cover the cost of carb loading a team of racers (a pre-race dinner or pre-ride lunch).
$1,000 can cover the cost for one race hotel.
Miscellaneous Team Equipment: Bike Racks, Work Stands, Took Kits, Trainers, First-Aid Kits
